Studies programe
The Curriculum of the Medical Department of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Crete was initially compiled according to the report of the working group on Structure and Operation of the Medical Department. However, the experience from the operation of the Department imposed and allowed the General Assembly to improve it. The Program seeks to integrate the Medical Dimension of the Social Dimension and the mission of the Medical function, while at the same time ensuring the provision of the necessary knowledge required by the modern exercise of Medical Science. In addition, where the objective conditions of infrastructure and staffing allow, an attempt is being made to modernize the traditional ways of teaching by introducing automation systems, developing certain topics from the point of view of more than one teacher, etc. The ultimate goal is the widespread use of interdisciplinary teaching methods.
The courses are taught in the Medical Department in the following three forms:
- Lectures: the lessons in which the tutor presents an area of a subject.
- Seminars: the courses in which students collaborate with tutors to present the relevant bibliography research or special special topics
- Laboratory and Clinical Exercises: aim to provide basic or general knowledge at the level of practical training on a specific subject. At the discretion of the tutors, independent courses can be defined as exercises that will be done with a limited number of students.
